CALIFORNIA FOCUS / Recap: Santa Monica Place Rings in the Year of the Dog with Annual Lunar New Year

On Saturday, February 17th California Focus Media team attended Santa Monica Place commemorates the Year of the the Dog for the annual Lunar New Year celebration that was hosted by Katherine Ho from The Voice on NBC.

The celebration started with a Chinese Music Duo, Stilt Walkers, Traditional Dough Artist, Balloon Twister, Arts & Crafts, and the Wishing Tree which people were invited to donate two-dollars to hang a wish on the branches of the two New Year’s Wishing Tree. All the donations will benefit Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) at UCLA.

The Celebration of the Lunar New year was put together very well, from all the red lanterns above, to the colorful dresses that the Korean Fan dancers were wearing. Participants perform a dragon dance during the Chinese New Year celebration in the middle of The Santa Monica Place where onlooker watch the Annual Lunar New Year Celebration.

The stage and red lanterns above stood lit with red lights to continue celebrating as the night went on in Santa Monica Place.
