Seniors, students, families, and passengers with disabilities receive discounts on select Amtrak routes serving Southern California, Central Valley, and Northern California
ORANGE, Calif. – The Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® recently launched the California Everyday Discounts program offering year-round savings on train travel for seniors, students, and passengers with disabilities. The Pacific Surfliner route travels between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo, connecting nearly 3 million passengers a year to many of Southern California’s top destinations. The California Everyday Discounts program was developed in coordination with the state’s two other intercity rail services. The program’s special passenger fares are valid on select Amtrak routes including the Capitol Corridor and San Joaquins serving Northern California and the Central Valley. The California Everyday Discounts are valid on state-supported routes, which benefit from continued investments by the State of California that fund public transportation between regions of the state. “We are committed to enhancing the connectivity of the communities we serve and are excited to launch the California Everyday Discounts program to help make passenger rail service as accessible as possible," said Bryan MacDonald, chairman of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Pacific Surfliner service. The California Everyday Discounts program is being launched on the tails of Amtrak’s recent announcements regarding changes to its everyday discounts for passengers on trains it operates nationwide. “While it’s important for us to increase ridership and improve farebox cost recovery for our service, we are proud to be able to maintain the best possible fares for our passengers who have come to rely on these discounts,” MacDonald said. Program details: The following discounts are available for Pacific Surfliner trips booked online, by phone, and at staffed Amtrak stations:
Seniors Save 15%: Travelers ages 62 and older receive a 15% discount on the regular adult fare with the promo code V282.
Passengers with Disabilities save 15%: Adult passengers with a disability receive a 15% discount on the regular adult fare with the promo code V577.
Students Save 15%: Students ages 13-25 with a valid student ID are eligible for 15% off the regular adult fare with the promo code V353.
Kids Ride 50% Off: One child (ages 2-12) ride half-price with a paid adult. Ages 2 and younger ride free. No promo code needed.
